42nd Street Condos

2001 AIA Home Of The Year Finalist

how the project came to be . . .

"We knew we wanted to make a statement: you could have quality construction and great design, and people would buy itl"

"The initial challenge was how to get four units on a 5000-sq ft lot . . . and make them feel like single-family homes."

-- Chris Serra

Brian Tschider of Cobalt Construction and Cynthia Creasey of Lake & Co Real Estate went to the principals of BjarkoSerra architects, Greg Bjarko and Chris Serra, and told them of their plan.

"We discussed townhomes, but felt that they were being overbuilt. We felt that we could say more with flats then we could in the narrow confines of the townhouse format.

"Every step of the way, we had a design/cost question. We also had environmental and quality concerns to address. We think we made really good choices, overall."

The 42nd Street Condos were a design success story. For more information, drop us a line. We'd love to talk to you about it.

Each bath features a unique artisan tile surround. These two, clearly, are water motifs!

Three of the units feature dyed concrete floors with hydronic radiant heat. Very comfortable, very stylish, and very practical.

The top floor features a large deck.

Tile in the kitchen, tile in the bath. This detail is from the ground-floor unit kitchen.
